Barack Obama could not have gotten a nicer day in Portland, especially for May. Today Obama spoke to a crowd of 75,000+ in and around Waterfront Park; the largest crowd turnout to date in his campaign. The sky was pure blue, the sun was shining and supporters listened to his hopeful words; some from their boats bobbing in the Willamette River. We were planning to go down but decided this morning that we would just watch online as it there would be a live stream on KATU. I have to say I do love that technology has made it so we can sit in our office and watch this type of event live.
Barack began with "Wow....wow...wow..." when he scanned the sea of faces before him. He truly seemed to be taking in the whole scene under the hot sunshine with a sense of awe. It is you and me and every other ordinary person living in this country that has the power to insist that a change come to the way this country's government is run. It's not surprising that the green-minded, Eco-friendly, cycle-loving inhabitants of the Portland Metro area would be the group to come out in the strongest of droves...what a great day for the Obama campaign. Here's to a victory on Tuesday!
There are already a few posts up about today's rally on Obama's Blog. I'm sure the video footage of the speech will be coming shortly and you can all see for yourselves what a blissful day is was here in Oregon.
